Dining at SLIG
The Hilton Salt Lake City Center is centrally located to some of the best dining Salt Lake City has to offer. There are dozens of places to eat within about a one-block walk; more if you wish to venture out a bit. Full information will be included in your syllabus. Here are the highlights:
Starbucks: This little treasure is tucked inside the entrance to the Trofi Restaurant. They offer beverages, breakfast sandwiches, pastries, and a limited selected of sandwiches and soup until 4:00 pm daily.
Trofi Restaurant: Order from the menu or enjoy a hot breakfast buffet with omelets and waffles made to order. Trofi is open for both breakfast and lunch.
Fine Dining in the Hilton: Hilton is home to Spencer’s for Steaks and Chops. Voted “Best Steakhouse” for eight consecutive years, a USDA Spencer’s steak is a mouth-watering experience. Also awarded best “Wine List.”
Spencer’s Bar: The gathering place for a casual drink while staying at the Hilton. Located in the front of Spencer’s restaurant.
Nearby: The Hilton is within a short walking distance of a variety of restaurants, including the Olive Garden, Inferno Cantina, Red Rock Brewing Company, PF Chang’s, Benihana, Market Street Grill, J Wong's Asian Bistro, Siegfried's Delicatessen, and Squatter’s Pub, just to mention a few. You will find everything from sushi to cheesesteaks within a two-block walk.
A Bit Beyond: If you are feeling more adventurous, City Creek Center and The Gateway both offer a wide variety of restaurants as well as a food court. Near Temple Square, restaurants are also located in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building/Lion House Pantry area. For a complete list by cuisine or location, go to VisitSaltLake.com.
Inside or near the Family History Library: Just need a quick bite to eat between your lab and your research? The FHL has a small vending area on the first floor of the library (if not blocked by construction which is expected this year); it offers a variety of frozen and packaged foods. You may also eat at the Church Office Building (two blocks east of the FHL) during lunch; first obtain a visitor pass from the FHL desk.
