ABOUT ME
Introduction
I’m Jill Nock, AG®, and I’ve been passionate about genealogy for nearly five decades! I’m accredited through ICAPGen℠ in the U.S. Upper South region and operate Mountain State Genealogy, where I also subcontract with Family Locket Genealogists.
I’m a ProGen59 graduate and have continued deepening my expertise through advanced training at GRIP, SLIG, and IGHR, focusing on DNA evidence, forensic genealogy, and advanced research methodologies. What I love most is combining traditional record analysis with DNA interpretation to solve those tricky genealogical puzzles—and then transforming complex findings into clear, readable reports that clients can actually understand and enjoy.
Giving back to the genealogy community is important to me. I serve with ICAPGen, the APG Writer’s SIG, and local genealogy societies, and I’ve held multiple officer and committee positions with the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.).
When I’m not tracking down ancestors, you’ll find me camping in the Idaho backcountry with my husband John and our fur kids, Gabby and Luna. I’m also the proud mother of two and grandmother of three wonderful (non-furry) grandchildren.
I’d be honored to serve on the Board for the Utah Genealogical Association and contribute to our vibrant genealogical community!
Her dissertation allowed her to hone academic research, analysis, and writing skills, and she loved delving into the communities and people of Tremonton and Bear River City, Utah through her research topic. Currently she is working at the FamilySearch Library as a volunteer on the US/Canada floor. Her research areas of focus are Great Britain, as well as the Midwest and New England regions. She has over a decade of experience in non-profit work. In 2011 she started a community orchestra and strings education program and has served continuously as the president of that board.
