SLIG 2023 Proposals Deadline  (Academy for Professionals)

Proposals are currently be accepted for the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy 2023, SLIG Academy for Professionals 2023, and SLIG Virtual 2022. Courses submitted should focus on in-depth quality education of an intermediate to advanced level that build a strong knowledge base for participants.

SLIG 2023 Proposals

SLIG 2023 will be held 8-13 January 2023 at the Salt Lake City Center Hilton. Proposals are encouraged on intermediate, high-intermediate, and advanced genealogical and historical studies and topics. “Niche” courses that serve a smaller participant base are also accepted. Courses should include a minimum 25 hours of instruction time in a schedule of 20 class session held in 75-minute increments, four per day, Monday through Friday.

SLIG Academy for Professionals 2023 Proposals

SLIG Academy 2023 is scheduled to follow SLIG 2023 at the Salt Lake City Center Hilton, 15-20 January 2023. Proposals for the Academy are encouraged on topics of import to those working in the genealogical professional or supporting roles to the profession, and those with goals to become employed in the profession. Courses should be outlined to cover a minimum of 20 hours of instructional time in 17 class session held in 75-minute increments.

SLIG Virtual 2022 Proposals

SLIG Virtual 2022 courses are held from mid-September to November, ending the week prior to Thanksgiving. Proposals are accepted on a variety of intermediate to advanced topics uniquely suited to a multi-week format. Virtual courses are facilitated via Zoom and technical support is provided. The weekly format allows for the inclusion of in-depth learning assignments or homework outside of the classroom, and is recorded for students to review for up to 30 days following the end of the course. Courses should be outlined to cover a minimum 20 to 25 hours of instruction time over a period of six to eleven weeks, typically with two 75-minute class sessions per week, although alternative formats may be considered if required to best facilitate learning on the topic submitted.

Inquires or draft proposals for feedback will be accepted at any time, and should be submitted to the SLIG Director.

Deadline for fall 2022 and January 2023 course proposals is September 1, 2021.

Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy 2022  (Academy for Professionals)

Elevate your genealogical education to new heights with the Salt Lake Institute of Genealogy (SLIG). SLIG offers in-depth, week-long courses on topics such as methodology, standards, records groups, DNA, regional or ethnic research, and research tools. Courses are designed for high-intermediate to advanced researchers and provide more depth than can be achieved by attending a regular conference or multiple hour-long webinars.

Course curriculum engages participants in multiple daily class sessions, hands-on application and learning assignments. Small class sizes maximize the learning experience.
